UN Economic Social Council Calls for Biofuels Halt
Following a May 20-22 special meeting on the global
food crisis, the UN Economic and Social Council has called for an
end to biofuel production. "We are urging governments to
seriously reconsider the policies to produce biofuels, so that
food security is not put in danger," the plan presented by
president Leo Merores said. But, the crucial role the LaRouche
movement must pursue in defining policy was made clear again when
the UN ECOSOC also called for the completion of the Doha Round of
agreements for the murderous WTO.
Two Indian online news services, domain-b.com and Zee News,
report that UNECOSOC has drawn up a 15-point program for
addressing the food crisis, which is not yet available.
