Guyana wants Caribbean nations to produce more food, move away from peasant-type agriculture
Guyana's President Bharrat Jagdeo is supporting a call for
Caribbean nations to produce more food to feed their populations,
according to Radio Jamaica. Such a policy would eliminate the
need to buy high-priced food abroad. He also emphasized that the
Caribbean region must move away from peasant-type agriculture. He
has made an offer to regional governments to use land available
in Guyana to produce food.
